Tournament poker fans will be looking forward to nest month’s PartyPoker Powerfest festival following news that the company has allocated $7.8 million for prize pool guarantees.
Planned for the first three week of May, the 172-event festival will see each week split into buy-in levels ranging from $5.50 through to $5,200, along with weekly main events.
Two events will have million dollar guaranteed prize pools – the $1,050 buy-in High Roller Main Event, and a $5,200 buy-in competition capped at 200 entrants.
PartyPoker’s head of poker Tom Waters said in a statement this week that the $7.8 million set aside for guarantees is the largest that the company has ever offered, giving players of all bankroll sizes the chance to win big.
In related news, PartyPoker has also announced the launch of Pure Poker across the majority of its NLHE tournament offerings. Commencing immediately, all NLHE tournaments, excluding High Rollers and the some rebuy competitions, are freezeouts, and will see players start with 30,000 in chips, and play to blind structures that allow the tournaments to finish earlier without compromising the average stack size.
