31-year-old Danish online poker pro Alexander Petersen topped a field of 387 to win his first World Series Of Poker gold bracelet, a hefty $927655 pay check and the 2015 $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship Title.
Petersen bested Jason Mercier in heads-up play reversing a seemingly dire starting 3-1 chip count.
This marks Petersen’s first major live tournament win, his first cash of the series and one of the biggest top prize awards in the series against a stellar line up at the final table which included Shaun Deeb, Davidi Kitai, and Mercier.
“Coming to Las Vegas was always a break for me, away from playing,” Peterson explained. “This is first event I played here where I really took it seriously, and it paid off.”
The final nine finished up:
1 Alexander Petersen $ 927 655
2 Jason Mercier $ 572 989
3 Dan Smith $ 369 564
4 Simon Trumper $ 267 778
5 Mohsin Virani $ 196 877
6 Steven Reichardt $ 146 857
7 Davidi Kitai $ 111 134
8 Shaun Deeb $ 85 306
9 Hasan Habib $ 66 463
