Win Cake, the online poker site formerly trading under the Cake Poker brand, looks set to match or surpass Lock Poker for the title of worse paying online poker room, with some players complaining on the forums that they have waited for up to a year for payment.
The online poker information site 4Flush reports that it has monitored the situation for the past six months and if anything the problems appear to be worse.
4Flush’s reportage is confirmed by many player posts on the popular twoplustwo and other forums, several reporting that only small percentages of large amounts due have been paid, others complaining of agonisingly slow pay-out processes, and some players alleging no payments at all over extended periods.
Like Lock Poker, the situation has spurred some desperate players to offload their positive account balances at Win Cake at a discount, and 4Flush reports that the latest rate is a paltry 19 cents on the dollar…if they can find someone to take the money even at those rates.
Because Win Cake does not accept US players, the legal and payment processing problems inherent in that part of the world cannot be used as an excuse by the operator.
In 2012, prior to its change of name, Cake Poker moved its U.S. players to the Juicy Stakes site, and slow-pay complaints soon mounted, 4Flush notes. Almost a year later, Juicy Stakes was acquired by Zagox Management and pay-out problems encountered by US players were resolved.
Win Cake operates on the controversial and apparently declining Revolution Network, which is US player-friendly despite Win Cake’s policy of not accepting US player action.
Win Cake has thus far kept a low profile on the pay-out problem, offering no explanation.
