After barely more than a year in operation Pokerstars has decided to discontinue its Beat The Clock product, citing “the need to cater to evolving player tastes.”
In a public statement the online poker provider revealed:
“We will be making some changes to the client which will involve the removal of Beat The Clock. PokerStars has decided to shelve the timed Sit & Go format to make way for new products that we wish to feature more prominently within the client. This decision has also in part been dictated by the need to cater to evolving player tastes, which inevitably change over time. The game will be removed later today.”
Recreational players in a rush appeared to like the BTC format, in which the fast-paced Pokerstars Zoom variant of poker was played in 48-player, five-minute S&Gs in which players who folded were immediately whisked off to another table.
When the 5-minute limit was reached the remaining players received a pay-out proportionate to their finishing chip stack vs. the remaining chips in play.
