PokerStars has launched its final 2016 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) schedule offering twelve additional events over last year’s tournament.
The online poker company will introduce Mini-WCOOP, a companion series running alongside WCOOP but with the buy-in for each Mini-WCOOP being at 1/100th that of the corresponding WCOOP event in most cases.
Changes in the 2016 WCOOP schedule will see the running of a $102,000 Super High-Roller Event, the largest buy-in online tournament in history but 2nd Chance tournaments have been removed as well as the award of WCOOP bracelets after it emerged, following an extensive review, that the potential award of a bracelet didn’t motivate the vast majority of players to play the series.
WCOOP final table participants and winners will, however, still receive a token of recognition of their achievement, in addition to the ‘massive’ prize awaiting each WCOOP Champion at the top of each prize table, Pokerstars said.
This year’s WCOOP Leaderboard is going to give away over $70,000 in cash prizes, TCOOP Main Event tickets, and one Ultimate Bahamas Experience.
The series, comprising 82 events, will run from September 4 to September 26, 2016.
