According to statistics published by the independent online poker monitor Poker Scout, the online poker industry’s biggest provider – Pokerstars – in enjoying a major pre-festive season rush thanks to well-designed and timed promotions.
Cash game traffic has soared 18 percent in the month thus far, thanks mainly to the company’s December Festival promotional program, with seven day average player numbers up by 3,400…an increase in action that most operators would be delighted to see as their total seven day average.
The increase alone represents around 50 percent of 888Poker’s total seven day average player count, currently around 2,300 players.
However, as Poker Scout notes, the Festival has so far pulled in 20 percent less players compared to last year, a situation that the monitor attributes to other popular Pokerstars promos running such as Spin&Go.
Whilst December is traditionally a good month for online poker operators, Poker Scout notes one exception: PartyPoker has seen declining traffic numbers following a Distributed Denial of Service attack.
