The online poker market leader Pokerstars has released its schedule for the 2014 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), announcing that the series will run from May 4 to May 18 with tournament guarantees of $40 million.
“For the first time ever, there will be three events every day of the championship, re-entry tournaments, and Progressive Super-Knockouts, which have proved very popular,” the Isle of Man-based online poker giant declares in a statement that reveals there will be 18 different games in 15 different formats; 13 tournaments with a guarantee of at least $1 million, and 90 tournaments with a guarantee of at least $100,000.
In all, there are 45 events, or 135 individual tournaments.
Each SCOOP event consists of three tournaments with Low, Medium, and High buy-ins to cater for all bankrolls. The big-money SCOOP Main Event will take place on May 18 with buy-ins of $109 (Low), $1,050 (Medium), and $10,300 (High) and guarantees of $1 million, $2 million, and $3 million, respectively.
Last year’s SCOOP is still the richest online poker championship series ever held, with a total of $75,585,435.05 awarded to players across 132 tournaments. With three extra tournaments this year, there are high expectations that it will beat last year’s total to set a new record.
