The name Dzmitry Urbanovich is on most everyone’s lips at the European Poker Tour Malta, where the nineteen-year-old Polish pro has been cleaning up big time in a number of events.
We reported earlier this week on Urbanovich’s biggest victory – a Euro 572,300 win in the Euro 25,000 buy-in High Roller competition, but since then he has claimed the main prize of Euro 35,200 in the 158-player Euro 1,000 Deepstack event, and an eighth placing Euro 2,405 in the Euro 500 buy-in Hyper Turbo.
Adding Euro 110,000 to these bank account-boosting achievements, the young Pole bested an entry field of 54 other hopefuls to take down the Euro 5,000 buy-in NLHE Turbo Tuesday!
Urbanovich’s success in the live tournament sector may have taken most by surprise, but he’s well-respected in the online environment, where he plays at Pokerstars under the nom-de-plume “Colisea” and has racked up successes in Sunday 500, WCOOP and SCOOP online competitions.
Staying in Malta, the Italian Poker Tour has also been generating winning news, with another accomplished online player again showing that internet poker skills translate well into the live tournament environment.
26-year-old Greek player Georgios “Zisimo7” Zisimopoulos, who has over $2 million in online winnings to his credit, took on 1,284 other entrants in the Euro 1,100 buy-in Italian Poker Tour Malta main event and emerged the winner, claiming a first prize worth Euro 142,205.
Zisimopoulos is an economics graduate from Athens University, and proved to be a shrewd negotiator in getting the best out of a chop at the five-handed stage of the final table that involved Jaroslaw Sikora, Frederik Reusch, Michael Feil and Nicolino di Carlo.
The agreement left Euro 28,000 on the table for the winner, with payouts of Euro 119,585 for Di Carlo; Euro 114,205 for Zisimopoulos; Feil Euro 101,260; Sikora Euro 97,975 and Reusch Euro 975,675.
Facing Polish pro Jaroslaw Sikora in the heads-up, Zisimopoulos wasted no time is sending his final opponent to the cashier desk and claiming the main prize.
The event generated a prize pool of Euro 1,285,000, which enabled 191 players to cash.
