International tennis ace and avid poker player, Rafa Nadal will be a starring attraction at the European Poker Tour Prague this week, and will be captured in action by the latest camera technology as he competes in a Euro 100,000 charity event.
Railbirds at the Hilton Hotel venue will already be marvelling at a special feature table that has been set out, surrounded by a close-packed semi-circle of 80 hi-tech coordinated digital cameras designed to capture the action using the new “time freeze” slo-mo technology.
The cameras are synchronized to take photos in 100-millisecond intervals, which will be combined into frames of video to create a unique spasmodic effect first seen in the movie The Matrix.
Competing with Nadal on the feature table will be poker luminaries like Daniel Negreanu, along with other as yet unnamed sports stars.
