The Rational Group, parent company of Pokerstars and Full Tilt, has released details of its charitable donations totalling $560,078 over the past 7 months, mainly benefitting victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines last year.
The two operational companies started a player fund with a commitment to match donations made by players on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
Thanks to the generosity of both players and companies, $560,078 was donated to the CARE International Foundation, through which key disbursements were made that included:
* Over 1,100 tonnes of food reached over a quarter million victims of the typhoon;
* Cash for food purchases in local markets was given to 3,700 desperate people;
* Emergency shelters or material for shelters was supplied to 117,000 victims;
* Training facilities and cash was made available to assist almost 20,000 survivors to again generate income.
