Russian poker pro Alexander “joiso” Kostritsyn has had an up-and-down few weeks on the nosebleed tables at Pokerstars but last week it all came together as he ended 6,513 hands of high stakes action with an impressive profit of $652,845 after besting some of the top players online.
The other big winner over the week was Daniel “w00ki3z.” Cates, who was up $201,767 over 7,765 hands.
The High Stakes Database reports that the (mis)fortunes of the always mercurial Viktor “Isildur1” Blom were equally remarkable last week as he ended his seven days of roller coaster action down $560,067 after 10,994 hands.
Blom did have the distinction of winning one of the biggest pots – for $70,496.22 – in a clash with Kostritsyn, but that wasn’t enough to overcome his overall losses. He also competed for the biggest pot of the week – $117,164.98 – but lost, again playing Kostritsyn.
Timofey “Trueteller” Kuznetsov also had a rough week, ending it in the red by $299,689 over 7,048 hands.
