Top international professional poker player Erik Seidel (he has won 8 WSOP bracelets in a brilliant career) has triumphed in the 2015 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino EPT Grand Final Super High Roller, a Euro 100,000 buy-in event that saw 71 globally respected players register.
The win boosts Seidel’s already impressive career earnings of $22 million by a further Euro 2,015,000.
When the final table was reached, Seidel faced a formidable array of talent across the felt that included Dzmitry Urbanovich of Poland, Max Altergott and Fedor Holz of Germany, Italy’s Dario Sammartino, Igor Kurganov and Vladimir Troyanovskiy from Russia, Austria’s Thomas Muehloecker and countryman Scott Seiver from the USA.
Seidel was among the low stacks for much of the day, and entered heads up action against Dzmitry Urbanovich trailing 3 to 1 in chips.
It was the start of a four-hour grind that saw him claw back the lead after the first 90 minutes and ultimately take the honours, sending a worthy opponent to the cashier and a second placing pay-day of Euro 1,446,600.
A delighted Seidel said the tournament had been one of the best of his career despite the passages of play when he had battled just to stay alive.
Other final table pay-outs looked like this:
Max Altergott Euro 940,300
Dario Sammartino Euro 709,500
Igor Kurganov Euro 551,000
Thomas Muehloecker Euro 427,100
Fedor Holz Euro 337,500
Scott Seiver Euro 261,800
Vladimir Troyanovskiy Euro 199,620
