The spectacular fall from grace of Hollywood acting legend Kevin Spacey following complaints about his off-camera conduct has created an unexpected bonus for the new poker film “Molly’s Game” (see previous reports.)
The movie, which features Jessica Chastain in the lead role of high stakes poker game organiser Molly, has been moved to the coveted slot at the November 16 gala finale of the Los Angeles festival from the American Film Institute, replacing Spacey’s new production “All the Money in the World” which has been withdrawn following the entertainment star’s public disgrace.
Coming just ahead of the “Molly’s Game” nationwide release on November 22, the prestigious finale screening gives the movie an unintended and unexpected, but welcome publicity boost. The production is Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut and has received good reviews following its premiere recently at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
