The proposal by the Tournament Directors Association to hold its annual conference at Sheldon Adelson’s The Venetian resort in Las Vegas rightly met with a storm of protest from outraged online poker luminaries (see previous reports) but all is well now following an announcement over the weekend by the TDA Board that the venue has been changed to the Aria.
Our readers will recall that Alexandre Dreyfus of the Global Poker Index generously stepped in to defuse the original furore, offering to help sponsor the event if the venue was switched.
The TDA had earlier attempted to justify its perhaps insensitive decision by explaining that the Venetian had offered various freebies and discounts, enabling the Association to keep delegate costs to a minimum.
TDA chairman Matt Savage posted the following on Facebook over the weekend:
“The 2015 TDA Summit will be held June 26-27 Aria Las Vegas. Registration details to follow shortly. Please tag your local Tournament Director and/or Card Room Manager.”
Full details went up on the TDA website shortly thereafter confirming the announcement.
