The good news this week is that popular Unibet online poker manager Andrew West has been confirmed in the post after just three months as the interim man in charge.
At the beginning of this year many in the industry were nonplussed that Unibet had not immediately and permanently promoted the energetic and efficient West, instead of tasking the group head of gaming, Daniel Eskola, with searching for a replacement for former head of poker Martin Stalros, who departed the company to join Relax Gaming as chief operating officer (see previous reports).
They pointed out that West has a wealth of experience in the industry that includes eight years with Pokerstars, followed by further management posts with Ladbrokes before he signed up with Unibet in 2013. He is also very active online “down in the trenches”, interacting with players and the industry in general and earning respect for his informed views.
