One of the biggest of the program innovations scheduled for this year’s World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas is likely to be the $565 buy-in Colossus competition, which WSOP officials have billed as hopefully the largest poker tournament ever held.
Pre-registration demand has reportedly underscored that boast as thousands of players have approached the organisers for a place in the bracelet event, which carries a $5 million guaranteed prize pool.
This surge of interest has spurred the organisers to make additional arrangements to ensure that as many players as possible can be accommodated at the tables when the event kicks off on Friday May 29. There are already 2 starting days and four starting flights or heats
Maximum capacity has been estimated at around 20,000 or more players.
The organisers have advised players interested in playing in the event to register early to avoid disappointment. Player can pre-register online now at http://www.wsop.com/registration, but note that online registration closes May 12, although physical pre-register in person will be possible at the Rio Main Cage until May 26.
